The days are shorter and cooler, and the leaves are beginning to change... You can really tell that Fall is here now!!!  Please remember that if you are doing any "fall cleanups", please be careful if you are burning outdoors... with more dry leaves on the ground and breezy days, brush fires can start and get quickly out of control.   Use a barrel or enclosure to burn in (located safely away from buildings, brush, and woods), and never leave an outdoor fire unsupervised.   This is the real start of the heating season... have your furnace checked by a professional to make sure that it is operating properly; a malfunctioning coal, oil, or gas burner can release carbon monoxide which can quickly build up in the home... A 'check up / tune-up' of your heating system will also ensure that it it operating at it's best efficiency; with the rising costs of fuel, it's worth it to make sure that your heating budget isn't just "going up in smoke".   If you are heating with wood, make sure that your burner is in good condition, have the chimney thoroughly cleaned to prevent chimney fires, and inspect the smoke pipes to ensure they are tightly fitted and safe to use.   Be fire safe this Fall!

SCHOOL'S IN -- BE CAREFUL! Watch for buses and cars picking up and dropping off students. It's everyone's responsibility to make sure our kids are safe.

At the August Council Meeting (Aug. 05, 2004), Council voted to adopt the Act 537 Watewater Management plan, following the receipt of a letter from DEP requesting action be taken concerning the plan. The plan will now be submitted to PA-DEP for review and approval. More information will follow at future Council meetings and work sessions, and will be posted in the '537' site area as it is made available to the public.

Have a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Welcome to Nuangola.com!

PLEASE NOTE:
Although the deadline for public comments submission concerning the ACT537 plan has passed, the message-submissions form will remain online to accept public comment. Submitted messages will be forwarded to Borough Council as correspondence.

The Act 537 (Wastewater Management) process is ongoing... don't hesitate to ask questions and/or provide comments. The Act 537 plan can have a lot of impact on everyone in the Borough. Keep posted on what's going on by attending the monthly Council meetings and work sessions, and by checking the 'Act 537' site area frequently. The "Act 537" link bar above is dated, and as the site is updated with more information, the link will reflect the date of the most current update.

Remember: YOU have a voice in this process... There are copies of the Wastewater Management Plan available at several locations, and you can view the text of the Plan at this site. Comments can be sent electronically through this site (click the '537' link above), by US mail, or in person to Council.

INFORMATION ON SEARCH ENGINE RESPONSES:
Recently, there has been more and more "bogus" search engine responses for the keyword NUANGOLA... unscrupulous website operators (many of them outside the US) are using keywords of established webpages, generic names, and town/city names as a lure to lead unsuspecting users to their sites (which normally contain porn links, hazardous software links, viruses, pop-up generators, and spyware). Look carefully at the clipped text and the actual website name shown under the links that the search page provides... links to site names that are obviously not something related to the content you are looking for, site text that shows the keyword you were searching for jumbled amid other words that are NOT what you were searching for (and in some cases are simply offensive), and some sites that contain the phrase that reads to the effect of "This site is all about..." followed by several words, one of them being the keyword you are searching for, should be avoided. Clicking on the link will most likely take you to sites that are completely unrelated to your search; many of these sites may install spyware or tracking software on your computer, or may potentially damage your system by installing malware or a virus, unbeknownst to you.

Halloween is right around the corner! We want everyone out there to have a safe and fun night... To help in this regard, please consider the following:

Wear reflective or lighted items front AND back, and in plain view when walking near roads... many costumes are made from dark materials that make you almost invisible to passing cars, which can be a very serious danger. Walk as far off the road as possible, with the oncoming traffic facing you.

If you are driving, be very cautious, especially near towns and populated areas... help keep our children safe.

Travel in groups for safety, don't go out on your own.

Take all your 'goodies' home and have them checked by mom, dad, or another responsible adult before eating any of it. Throw away anything that appears to be opened or tampered with.

Be friendly and courteous when visiting someone's home... They are nice enough to provide some of your fun for the evening, let them know you appreciate it, and it will help make it more enjoyable for everyone.

Have Fun!

We would like to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year holiday, and good fortune in the coming year! Thanks for visiting... we look forward to serving you in 2003!

Happy  Holidays!

With the Christmas holiday season right around the corner, please remember to help your local charities, so they can help others to have a brighter holiday. Your local churches, many public-support organizations (like the Red Cross and the Salvation Army), and others will accept donations of food, clothing, money, and household items for distribution to the needy. Donations do not have to be large to make a difference! This page receives thousands of hits per month... if each person that visits this site would donate just ONE dollar to a charity, that would equal THOUSANDS of dollars going to help disadvantaged people and families. Please be generous in helping the charity of your choice this season.
Thanks for visiting... Have a good day!

We are still in a dry outdoor condition, and as fall approaches, the danger of brush/forest fires caused by open burning becomes even more prevalent as the summer's leaves dry and fall. Please refrain from burning papers, leaves, and yard waste... remember, you can be held responsible for causing even an accidental brush/forest fire. Leaves and yard waste can be used as mulch to protect your garden plants, or deposited at the Recycling Center (leaves and grass clippings only, please) during Saturday hours.

Government News: On December 18, 2001, Congress approved a joint resolution (Public Law 107-89), allowing President Bush to declare September 11th as 'Patriot Day'. On this day, flags are to be flown at half-mast, remembrance services are encouraged to be held, as well as a moment of silence starting at 8:46AM, Eastern Standard Time. Please show your patriotism and honor of the fallen by displaying the American Flag on your homes and places of business.  Read the entire proclaimation here.

Thank you for visiting.

Due to the low amount of rainfall we have been receiving of late, the land and woods are VERY dry. Please use EXTREME caution when burning, or more preferable, refrain from burning completely. Remember, you can be held responsible for even an accidental brush/forest fire caused by open burning.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who were lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001; and in the following rescue operations. We salute our lost fellow Americans as heroes of freedom, and as martyrs of our great country.   They will not be forgotten.

We would also like to salute all those who donated thier time, money, equipment, and life-giving blood to help save as many lives as possible in the aftermath. You are heroes of the USA, and we thank you!

For continuing coverage of U.S. actions and reactions after this attack, stay tuned to your local news station, or log on to CNN.COM for current information.

TERRORIST ATTACK ON U.S. EAST COAST

[09.11.2001] The United States has suffered a terrible affront to civilians and government in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Towers in NYC, The Pentagon in Washington, and a location near Pittsburgh (in Shanksville) Pennsylvania. Four airliners were hijacked and used as weapons against these locations. Stay tuned to your local and national TV / radio news channels (WBRE, WNEP, CNN, WILK, and others) for more information. You can also go to the CNN news website at WWW.CNN.COM for information.

We offer our sympathy and condolences to the families of the people that were lost in this terrible attack, and to the families of the brave souls that have fallen in the line of duty protecting the public and trying to rescue trapped persons in the aftermath.

There is a large need for blood due to the resulting injuries from these attacks...please help by donating! - contact your local Red Cross chapter for donation / collection locations and times.

It is also asked of everyone to keep telephone calls to local emergency services and 911 to absolute priority (life or property-threatening) calls, and try to keep cellular and paging systems as clear as possible, to allow for the high demand of emergency services communications. Above all, PLEASE do not call emergency services departments or 911 for information about this incident... calls of this nature overload the communications systems and make it harder to get important communications through. Stay tuned to TV or radio news for detailed information and contact numbers for questions.

There is also a need for Fire / E.M.S. personnel and equipment to help with managing the incident in NYC. Any local department that is interested in responding, contact your local Emergency Operations Center or Emergency Management office for information on response protocol.

There are still many active issues in our Borough... Please keep abreast of them by attending the regular Council meetings. Let your voice and opinions be heard... it's YOUR hometown!
As for the site, image galleries are coming along nicely, except for a few bugs in the Gallery program we are attempting to use as the vehicle for the pictures... it needs a little more 'ironing out' before it can be released. Under testing, it seems to have a problem with locking up the browser about 1 in 20 instances. We are still looking for pictures and content for the site, and we welcome comments and/or suggestions... We want to hear from you! We are also negotiating with several companies for some premium items with the NDC logo on them, such as shirts, hats, etc... Look for them coming soon!

WELCOME!!!
Welcome to NUANGOLA.COM! The paperwork and hosting details are now completed, and the site is up in it's 'infancy'. We have a lot of work ahead of us to get the site up in it's final-release stage. This site is, as stated, the unofficial Nuangola homepage...unofficial, because we are completely independent of the Borough governmental structure, and we are not endorsed in any way by it... This allows us to maintain an impartial standpoint on current affairs and historic data. Please read the 'site policy' area for the in-depth information about the site. We hope to help put Nuangola "on the map" in the Internet realm, and we want to make as much information about our Borough available to residents and interested parties all around the world. To this end, we ask that anyone who may have pictures, documents, and/or current or historical information about Nuangola that they would like to share with us for use as content on the site, to let us know. This site is for YOU...Help us to make it great! We are a not-for-profit website... all funding comes from private sources, and is used to keep the site hosted and current. If you are interested in this endeavor, donations are gratefully accepted (See the 'site policy' area for more details)... Feel free to contact us via our online submissions form for more information. Hope to see you back again soon! Thanks for visiting...Have a great day! ~NDC Webmaster
